I stayed at the Oasis Marigot in November 2007 on the front and back end of my ten-day sailing trip. While there were some negatives, overall it was a great experience. Many people have written about the setting, which is fantastic, and the staff, which are, like just about everyone on St. Lucia, very friendly and helpful. I stayed in two different types of rooms: the Villa St. Lucia and the Ocean Cottage. The Villa was more spacious and had a nicer kitchen, but the Ocean Cottage had the most amazing view and a pool. Be prepared for the long walk up the narrow and uneven stairs (these were great for running; there is an pulley-operated elevator but it's slow), mosquitos (especially if you sleep outside), and no A/C (some rooms do have it, most don't).
There are a few things I didn't like. First, the place is just a bit run down (lots of coats of paint, older facilities, etc.). I wasn't terribly bothered, but if you're looking for new and sparkling facilities, this isn't your place. Second, the office keeps really odd and really short hours; if you want to plan something through them (like an excursion) do it early in the morning, and don't rely on a "2 pm closing time" -- usually it will end up being 1 pm, or maybe noon. Third, most of the restaurants are on the other side of the bay, and you have to take a water taxi to get to them. The restaurant at the Oasis Marigot is decidedly decent -- especially on all-you-can-eat pasta night -- but most of the food is pretty anglicized; don't expect real St. Lucian food there. Third, there are two common pools at the Oasis -- one set up among the villas, which is very pretty but very small, and one by the restaurant, which is very small and open to bar/restaurant guests only (no one wants to swim around after eating a full meal, and the pool staff will glare at you if you try to access the pool at more reasonable times).
Despite these small complaints my stay at Oasis was great, and a good value for the money. The best food on the bay (for the money) is Chateau Mygo, across from the Oasis; the others are all mediocre and/or overpriced. If you get a chance to go to the "jump up" (street party/fish fry) in Sufriere, you should; we met some great people and ate great food there.
