Before we arrived in Jarabacoa, we were a bit worried because we hadn't been able to reserve a hotel online ahead of time. We made a reservation at Hotel Brisas del Yaque over the phone once we were in the Dominican Republic, and after a 4-night stay there, we could not have been happier with our choice. We stayed in a small but very comfortable, clean, and cozy room with a double bed, tv, air conditioning, refrigerator, and a balcony with a mountain view all for only $27 US dollars per night! The staff was very friendly and helpful and there was complimentary coffee in the lobby each morning. On our first night, after speaking to the guy at the front desk about our interest in seeing the Waterfalls, he immediately called a tour guide and had him come to the hotel to talk to us about options. We ended up not only seeing the Waterfalls, but going on 2 more amazing excursions to Mt Mogote and El Rio Yaque de Norte with our wonderful guides, two brothers: Porfirio and Eulojio. They were incredibly helpful, respectful, affordable, and gave us a one of a kind authentic experience in Jarabacoa. We highly recommend them to anyone traveling in this area.
