“Amazing Wedding!”

Abaco Beach Resort and Boat Harbour

I had my May 2007 wedding at the Abaco Beach Resort. It was fabulous! The resort was very nice, they had some construction going on the other end of the resort but we didn't hear any noise. The only glitch was they gave my parents the keys to a suite when they had booked a standard room and then 15 min. after we got to the room they called and moved them into a MUCH smaller room. My parents wanted the bigger room and offered to pay the difference but they said it was booked. The wedding was excellent, there was no one on the beach and Latina did an amazing job coordinating it all! There was a fishing tournament the week of our wedding but it was fun looking at all the huge boats in the harbor and watching them bring in the big fish! They caught a 550 pound marlin while we were there. Big rooms, clean, all with beautiful views. Great time and would recomend anyone thinking of a destination wedding!

“Great getaway!!!”

Just came back from a great weekend at the Abaco Beach Resort. I have read some of the other reviews and hope to put this resort into perspective. First, if you have not traveled to the out islands of the Bahamas there are a few things that you need to be aware of. Everything is very expensive due to the fact that everything has to be either ferried or flown in to these out islands. Second, the high humidity here year round causes some people to think that the a/c is not working correctly. Finally, the out islands exist on tourism. Most of the locals will go out of their way to help you, as you are thier livelihood, however the locals all seem to work on island time. It is unrealistic to expect a New York City like schedule while in the out islands.

As far as the resort, my wife and I had a fantastic experience. The service was excellent and everyone there did a great job. Our room was one of the largest that I have experienced in the out islands and had the most amenities that I have experienced at any out island resort. We had imported european soaps and body gels, a coffee maker, a refrigerator, and even a dehumidifier in the room. The bathroom had been completely renovated with luxuries including a granite counter and sink area. Each evening we received a turndown service with mints as well. The only complaint was that the beach was not quite as nice as I had expected as appeared man made. This resort is primarily a marina/boating resort and the pools and dock area were beautiful.

The food at the resort was good, but we found that the best food locally was at Wally's Restaurant (on the main street in Marsh Harbour), but you need to make reservations for dinner.

All in all, this is a great place to spend some time getting away from it all. We plan on returning!

“A very nice hotel”

We spent a night here before going on to a rental cottage in another island, and then spent a day on the way back. Our room was a standard double, very spacious, beautiful view of the beach. Very nice bathroom. Caveat for some, there are no elevators and some rooms are third floor. The pool area is really pretty and has a nice poolside bar/restaurant with very friendly staff. It is quite a scene with live music in the late afternoon/evening and a lot of boaty people having a good time. The main restaurant Anglers is good but not great, they were out of most wines I asked for, and a little pricey, but nice ambiance. All staff we encountered were very helpful and friendly. The beach is very pretty and quite clean, the grounds full of lovely flowering shrubs. We rented a boat from Seahorse on site to take to our cottage rental. I would definitely return here, but I would request a ground floor room.

“Lovely”

Abaco Beach Resort and Boat Harbour

We had a 10 day visit to this island. The resort is beautiful and the boats are to die for. We had a standard ocean view room. It was very big with two large double beds. The room was clean and the bathroom was very large. The house keeping was excellent and we had tea and coffee making faculties in the room to.
The staff were very friendly were happy to help in any way. The food is expensive. There is only one restaurant and they did not change the menu for the whole 10 days we were there, but they did have daily specials. I don’t eat fish so I was very limited to what I could have and got bored with having steaks every night.
The activities are expensive but worth it. We hired a speed boat and visited the other islands, which was very nice. But we mainly sat on the small but very clean quiet beach. There is not a lot of shop, but there a few bars in walking distance. Most bars had music on a Friday night and it was fun to go dancing. Over all I really enjoyed my stay here and you could not fault the cleanliness of the resort and the kindness of the staff. You could do as much or as little as you wanted.
