North Rim
Sitting in the Grand Canyon Lodge at the North Rim is a relaxing place to be. There is an indoor area with large windows and comfy couches where you can be inside, or outside on the patio there are chairs and tables to sit at. The Lodge is placed right on the edge of the canyon, so you can look out over the canyon. You may also be lucky enough to catch the California Condors playing in the air. Keep in mind this photo was taken during the summer fires and doesn't look too clear.
The most beautiful scenery can be seen at "Cape Royal." There is a two-lane winding road leading to Cape Royal which is about 20 miles from North Rim Visitor Center. There are several view points in between. Angel window is also at Cape Royal. The sunset view is spectacular unless it is cloudy.
Options are limited compared to South Rim, still various activities such as mule rides, bicycling (bring your own bike), and hiking are available. Detailed information can be found on the park's website http://www.nps.gov/grca , or you can stop at the north rim visitor center when you arrive. You can also find information on activites in the area by visiting the Kaibab National Forest's website at http://www.fs.fed.us/r3/kai/, or stop at their visitor center (adjacent to the Jacob Lake Inn approx 45 miles north of the park boundary) on your way into the park.
