What better to spend a well-earned vacation than relaxing at one of the most beautiful sandy beaches of the Dominican Republic, spoiled in an " All-Incl. Resort" in the Punta Cana area?  But then after a few days, your mind start wandering :  what about the country and region , its attractions, peoples and culture? Just to  satisfy the mind as well, after the body has recovered and regained its strength?

Well, then it's time to the leave the Resort for a day excursion, and there you have a few choices: one of the "organized" trips or something a little more adventurous: Off the beaten path - renting a car and discovering the East  your own: First thing to do: Check the small site www.puntacanaecotours.com  to get the basic idea, click on the bigger informative website  www.bavaroecotours.com and start to prepare your day excursion thoroughly. All the information you need is there, Get the feeling of what is "Ecotourism", and be prepared to spend a few dollars in the (very poor) countryside. Such trip is not dangerous, but rewarding. You are driving on good roads, (just drive carefully and make sure you are insured), and soon you encounter a beautiful nature when crossing the Cordillera of the East. Admire the long-stretched waterfall "Marlboro" and the scenic landscape. Refresh yourself in a small river, have a local meal at  Mirador Vista del Valle in Pedro Sanchez, right in the middle of the " Ecological Corredor" between El Seybo and Miches. before continuing the roundtrip. In Miches,  you'll find a long "virgin" beach again, and along the coastal road you can easily return to the Resort without getting lost.

Here's a tip: you do NOT want to attempt driving down there yourself.  Let someone else do the driving, because they know the places to stay away from.  Also, drink bottled water only.
