Canopy tours are becoming the craze for PV-bound travelers. Two major tour operators are Vallarta Adventures, located north of town, and Los Veranos, located a distance south of town.
There are two main Canopy Tour Companies in Vallarta that were the first to arrive, and have been the innovators and the most popular companies to choose throughout the years. Keep in mind there are several other options for Canopy Tours in puerto vallarta, but these two are the two most trusted and most popular in town. The others are Canopy la vista, el eden, vallarta adventures canopy tour, and several others that are just a guy and his truck with some zip lines in the woods. Be careful with those.
Canopy Los Veranos- 13 zip lines, very high off the ground, great views. Lots of hiking in between, pretty strenuous on your back and legs when carrying their equipment. Amazing location, and plenty of side activities after the tour to do. The "eco preserve" is "home" to CAGED toucans, monkeys, snakes and spiders....that make for great photos. They have a central lilttle river that you can jump in, or bask on the rocks in the sun. They also have a pretty decent restaurant and bar at the base of the tour as well. The coolest thing about the tour is that you can bring along other people in your group to watch you do the tour, and they can sit at the bar if they want. The worst thing about the tour is the loud sound that zip line made because of metal on metal scraping. VERY SCARY...but an awesome tour nonetheless. All in all a 4 hour tour. $80.
Vallarta Adventures Outdoor Adventure-speed boat ride, jeep jungle safari, mule riding, 10 zip lines, 2 rope bridges, and rapelling down a 100 foot waterfall. Not as good of a location as los veranos, but better equipment, a safer experience, YOU GET WET...when you splash down in a natural spring pool. The mules were fun, and the zip lines go much faster than los veranos because they are hiking equipment ropes not steel lines that cause friction. Much lighter equipment but the lines weren´t up as high and the views aren´t as good. The rapelling down the waterfall was amazing. No restaurant at the bottom, just a snack bar with drinks. Tour lasts 7.5 hours, and is $90.
Others:
All are great tours, and the others are much smaller operations than these.
