There are numerous cultural attractions that can be found in and around the city of Gaeta, which include many churches and cathedrals, a massive castle, art galleries, and various historical monuments.
Throughout the city, it seems that one will find around every corner another church or cathedral. There is so much religious culture and history in this city that it would be hard to visit it all in one day. Riding a bicycle during the warmer months of the year (check out the Trip Advisor: Weather page) can be a great way to spend the day exploring the city. Some of the most important churches in the area include The Church of Annunziata, The Church of San Giovanni a Mare, The Chapel of the Crucifix, and The Cathedral of Assunta and Sant’Erasmo.
Built around the 10th century, the large castle found in the city of Gaeta has been used by many kings and protected by a number of armies. The castle is one of the city’s major tourist attractions, and is on the route of most city sight seeing tours.
For more information about places to visit around the city, check out this Gaeta Sights page, or stop into the Visitor Information Center located in Gaeta.
