Sluzier Restaurant on Utrechtsestraat, 41-45. Wonderful food, more French/ European than typically dutch maybe but nevertheless this represents one of the best meals available in  Amsterdam. Restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, comfy seats, smoking or non areas .That said it is also relaxed, no one seemed really dressed up and everyone sang when they brought a cake out for a girl who was having a birthday meal. It was all the little extras that impressed here; rolls and tapanade to start, bowl of chocolates with coffee, mints etc... all at no charge and usually what you would expect to find only in a much more expensive establishment. Two courses, wine and coffee came to about 80 euros- not budget maybe but well, well worth it.
