Greece is a wonderful place to take your children and Delphi is full of educational wonders. But if you decide to bring your children to Delphi, there are a few things to keep in mind.
First, keep in mind that Delphi is not a place for strollers or toddlers. It is too steep, too rugged, too dangerous for very small children. If you are in very good physical shape, then by all means put your baby or toddler in a front or backpack, but be aware that will make the requisite hiking and climbing just a bit harder.
If you do bring your older children, remember there’s a lot of walking here, much of it rugged and/or steep. If your children aren’t hikers or walkers, or tend to complain even on the hike from the grocery store to the car, this might not be the best destination for them. Many Delphi travel experts recommend not bringing children under the age of 9, though some 7 and 8 year olds are just fine here.
This is an excellent educational opportunity for your children. There’s a great deal of fascinating history they can really see and understand. Your own knowledge of Greek mythology will help your kids to understand what they are seeing. If you aren’t well versed yourself, be sure to buy a good guide and pick up a site map when in Delphi; you want your children to get the full experience so they can truly appreciate what they have seen.
