Although Luxembourg City is not exactly the biggest capital, it has a wide variety of bars and clubs to satisfy the large crowd of party-goers. After all, Luxembourg, thanks to it's tax-haven status, is a place where people working "in money" stays for a short time between education and family-life/career-advance, which means lots of single and fairly young people (27-45). Most of the bars and clubs are situated in the main part of the city, i.e. the old part, although some lies down in Grund too, which is even older.

Scott's (in Grund) Irish pub divided into two levels and a large terrace beside the river Clausen. The terrace in a classic Sunday hang-out from april to october. Downstairs the bar is traditional with large chesterfield furniture. Upstairs is always extremely crowded and hot on weekends, and the music is 70'es style. Cool place to go and dance if you're not afraid of sweat. Pre-party classic.

Melusina (in Clausen, close to Grund) large nightclub with dancefloor in the middle with surrounding lounges. One of the few places you have to pay a cover charge, around 12 euro including cloak room. The DJ's are pretty good. They have a VIP-area called "Superlounge", with a separate DJ, playing more "loungy" music.

Tube English bar/pub in "tube-design". Usually plays football on large screens. Popular among youngsters on warm nights when you can bring your beer in plastic cans out on the street and party there instead.

Part des Anges alternative bar, with lots of pot-smokers and drug dealers. Plays good music, and you'll get free drinks if you're a cute girl.

Apotheka danceclub in the cellar of a restaurant with the same name. Very hot and sweaty, but they play music that everybody knows, and it's great. The DJ-booth is kind of hanging over the dancefloor, which is cool. Very hard to find the toilets, you have to walk up stairs, then down stairs and so on.

Urban standard place for After Work, pre-parties and rugby/football games. You'll always find people here, and you'll always meet the same people.

dQlicque "alternative" bar with all kinds of music, but mostly electro. They also host electro nights with up-and-coming DJ's.

Secret Garden the entrace to this place is very hard to see, but once you know where it is, you'll never forget. This is a lounge-bar, with large sofas, couches and pillows. They play relaxed music and serve amazing drinks, although quite expencive. They also have a garden in the middle, which is problably great in summer.

OBar traditional pub. The benches are pretty hard and uncomfortable to sit on.

B4 very small, but cool bar, with funny bartenders. Great to preparty before moving over to VIP or White.

VIP one of the clubs in the famous VIP Room chain. Does not allow people that look underage or poor. You have to dress nicely to get in, your shoes are especially important, and the bouncers will either nod quietly, drag you inside or block the entrace for you. Do not expect them to say anything. The club in itself is quite ordinary, expencive drinks and full of bankers and surgically "enchanced" women. They even have a kiosk downstairs where you can buy chockolate and candy (?). If you like free champagne, this is the place to go. They also have "ladies-night" every wednesday, which means free drinks for girls if you arrive before 12am.

White Room VIP's little brother. They lie right next to each other, and the concept is fairly the same, although it's easier to get in here. That means the crowd is more diverse, and slighlty younger. They usually have better DJ's and free candy.

Interview brown bar near the bus station and Post Office. Standard "waiting for the bus" hangout, with cheap prices.

Insomnia fairly new club, although it already looks quite worn-out. Lies a bit "off" from the other clubs. Champagne-clad and small.
