Two of the most popular museums in Ljubljana are the National Museum of Slovenia and the Slovenian Museum of Natural History .
National Museum of Slovenia : This museum is located in the middle of the city, so it’s easy for tourists to access. One of its oldest artifacts includes a flute that is about 47,000 years old and was once owned by a Neanderthal. The museum contains permanent exhibits as well as traveling exhibits. Some of the permanent exhibits include Egyptian mummies, artifacts from the Roman Empire , and a couple hundred stone monuments with Roman inscriptions.
Slovenian Museum of Natural History: This is one of the most popular museums for foreign tourists to visit. It contains exhibits focused on all forms of life that have lived and existed in the area for thousands of years.
In addition to natural and history museums, Ljubljana is also home to several art galleries. Many of the pieces contained in these art galleries are from local (past and present) artists.
