Tegucigalpa is perched at an elevation of 3,000 feet and surrounded by green mountains and valleys. Numerous parks provide enormous playgrounds in the great and wild outdoors. Hiking is superb in this region and jungle-esque exploration is a delight for those who love to hike in what feels to be never-before chartered territories. Various levels of hiking is possible here as well as tour-guided excursions. Golf is also available and a growing industry in and around Tegucigalpa.
La Tigra National Park is a must-see for those who have come to enjoy nature. Only about 11 kilometers outside of the city, the park provides a vast area of wild and lush habitat full of interesting and exotic plant and animal species to admire. Bird watching is a favorite activity here. La Tigra is considered one of the las surviving cloud forests in Central America; great respect must be paid at all times, but exploration is welcome. Its often best to go to the park with an organized tour. A tour guide will get you inside the park properly and help to ensure that you remain in the authorized areas as well as educate you more on this incredible space.
Currently there are two golf courses with 9 holes. The Tegucigalpa Country Club and the Villa Elena Country Club are both very easily accessed.
