A popular spot for locals and tourists alike to escape on the weekends is St. Clair Lion park, 14 km from Gaborone. This is a great spot to relax on the weekend, with a plethora of outdoor activities available for the adventurous to shy.  For instance, there is a Gaborone 4X4 club that races in this vicinity. Also, there is a restaurant, bar, playground as well as horse trails, dams and motorbike rides. Those with a strong stomach may enjoy visiting the Vulture restaurant where Cape Vultures are fed on a daily basis. These Otse Cape Vultures are an endangered species and are stridently protected by Botswanan law since in the last 40 years their population has been shrinking drastically. They are also very intriguing and voracious eaters; once the prey has been found, a large flock of vultures of up to 100 can strip a carcass to the bone in less than half an hour. Intriguing to watch, these vultures can no longer fly after a good meal and sit around until their meal is digested before flying off.

For those of an outdoorsy character, one can picnic and camp on the numerous trails. Travelers should note there is an entrance fee to the park.
