Often missed off the main tourist agenda for some reason, Rameses 3rd's great mortuary temple is not to be missed.

Immmediately impressive is the main pylon, as you progress through you see more and more carvings detailing battles in particular.

Also many of the colours on painted columns are quite well-preserved.

It's second in size only to Karnak. Go see for yourself!
