It can be challenging to find accurate information for travel in Egypt. The government does not put forth much tourism information, and does not regularly update what it does offer. Some information is available from the Egyptian Tourist Authority, with information specific to the different area destinations, including attractions, accommodations, transportation, and directories of travel agents. There are several offices in the United States, at: 630 Fifth Avenue, Suite 1706, New York, NY 10111; 645 North Michigan Avenue, Suite 829, Chicago, IL 60611; and 8383 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 215, Beverly Hills, CA 90211. The office in Canada is at 1253 McGill College Avenue, Suite 250, Montreal, Quebec H3B 2Y5; in the United Kingdom the office is at 170 Picadilly, London W1J 9EJ; and in South Africa the office is at Box 3298, Parklands, Johannesburg 2121.

One good online reference is the University of South Florida’s page on Alexandria, with information on the area’s history, local maps, photographs, and visitor information regarding transportation, attractions, accommodations, dining, and more.

Once you get to Egypt, the main Egyptian Tourist Authority office is in Cairo, but there are a few satellite offices in Alexandria, at Ramleh Station, Nuzha Airport, Marine Passenger Station, and Misr Station.
