Everyone goes on and on about how Padstow has become so expensive simply because a celebrity chef has a restaurant or two located there.  Having visited Padstow on numerous ocassions there is certainly value for money to be had if you are prepared to look.  Steins Seafood Restaurant has certainly set the standard over the years but now there are smaller places that too can offer as good if not better in some cases and for less money.

There are numerous pubs all serving good quality pub grub, three Fish and Chip shops (including Steins) Snack Bars and Sandwich Shops again producing the run of the mill fast food.  Then comes those little restaurants where good quality freshly cooked food can be found.  These places pride themselves on being able to provide the discerning traveller and local alike with good quality fresh food mostly sourced in Cornwall.  Places like Margots, Steins Cafe, The Estuary and No 6, all provide excellent food at reasonable prices which you do not need to take out a mortgage for!  The only difference here is that The Estuary is out of the town centre up on High Street but it is well worth the walk up the hill..(Its downhill coming back)!!   New this year is Custard which opened mid year and already is proving to be very popular.

So the next time you are in Padstow, feeling hungry and want that little something extra that only the smaller restaurants can offer seek out one of the aformentioned places, you will be happy.
