If you want to immerse into Dahlonega's exciting historical and cultural traditions, visit The Gold Museum and Buisson Arts Center. The Gold Rush started in Dahlonega back in the 1820's when thousands arrived in the area looking for the precious metal. Don't miss the Gold Museum's exhibitions of mining equipment and coins manufactured by the local US Branch Mint. Watch the documentary that is all about the golden days of this once mining town. The museum is located at the Lumpkin County Courthouse built in 1836 and it is open Monday to Saturdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sundays from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Located at 199 Choice Avenue, Buisson Arts Center is the most important performing and visual art center of the region. Housed in historic Dahlonega Baptist Church dating from1897, the center includes a concerts and art galleries where local and regional artists show their work. Some of this year's shows include concerts by hard-rock performer Jeffrey Steele and Rodney Crowell playing with Will Kimbrough. The center also hosts an artist residency programs by which regional and national artists are given studio space to create works that are exhibited in the gallery.
