This a beautiful old cemetary high on a hill overlooking Plymouth Harbor. It is one of the oldest cemetaries in America, with gravestones dating back to the 1680's. King's Chapel in Boston is older. Several Mayflower passengers are reputed to be buried here including John Howland.

The variety of funerary art spans three centuries. It is a quiet place to wander and contemplate the history of the United States. Please watch your step though. It is not well maintained.

There are two tour companies that offer guided tours which include Burial Hill. Both are interesting in their own way. Colonial Lantern tours also offers a day time History Scavenger Hunt by appointment for school groups.
