Getting to Henderson is easy from the McCarran International Airport, which is the primary airport for travelers heading to Las Vegas. It is located just off the Las Vegas Strip, and is served throughout the week by many major carriers with direct flights available from most major US cities. The airport is home to two main terminals, and is connecting from these is easy via an airport monorail shuttle. The airport can be especially congested at times however, especially whenever there is a trade show, major sporting event in town or even on most weekends in the late afternoon. Plan to arrive early to get through airport security during these times.
Cabs are readily available at McCarran and the rates are reasonable to most destinations in Henderson. The fare is per ride, and not per passenger, but there may be an extra charge for additional or oversized bags. The cab lines move fairly quickly at the airport thanks to good organization by the management, who have devised a system to allow multiple parties to board their cabs at the same time.
Rental cars are also available, and the service counters are located in the baggage claim and arrivals area. Most of the major services including Avis, Enterprise, Hertz and National Car are located in Las Vegas. Located in the baggage claim area of the airport are rental car service counters. If you’re renting a car watch for area where parking permits are required.
Driving to Henderson from further away is also an option, and the roads to Las Vegas and the area are reasonably well maintained. Just be careful when driving after dark, as the rural areas are not generally well lit.
