Binghamton boasts somewhat of a "hidden" music scene. Two places come to mind if you want to experience live music in the city. The Belmar and the Cyber Cafe, both located on Main Street. Live bands often frequent these local watering holes including the sounds of Dr. E.F and the Rudimentary of Sound (usually every friday night at the Belmar), Driftwood, Jimmy John and the Belmar Four, and Jake Lear. The Belmar is not the most glamorous of places but its cheap, full of an ecclectic mixture of grad students and locals, and boasts a nice juke-box. If you are looking for something for all ages try the Cyber Cafe. Not only do they carry a wide assortment of micro-brews on tap but also have chess, trivia night, coffee, and fantastic specialty wraps, oh and free wireless. These two places are worth visiting on any night.
