Cabo Pulmo is very off-the-beaten-path. It's a tiny (about 30-40 buildings) and mostly solar-powered village that's a short drive from San Jose del Cabo. You can arrive via the Eastern cape road, along the shore, although it's not a safe option during rainy periods as it's a poorly maintained dirt road with no stores or gas stations. The other option is to take the highway and then a short run on a dirt road.

It's claim to fame is the massive reef that stretches out into the sea and which is very accessible from the village. This reef is now protected by the Mexican government and there is a $2 fee to travel by boat or kayak to visit it. In the village there are several dining options, and most are low-key and close fairly early. Don't expect much nightlife as there are only two small places that have bars and the only loud music you'll hear is the occasional car stereo passing by.
