About me: I'm very hard to peg. People look at me and guess that I'm either a college kid on a hockey or football scholarship, a police officer or a fireman. They never guess that I'm actually a university professor with a Ph.D in biochemistry and a love for theater and opera. So you can probably guess that my choice in travel destinations are quite varied (from hiking the Grand Canyon one trip, to a museum tour of Paris on another). In terms of the hotels I choose, I often prefer to stay at budget hotels. I'm of the opinion that I've come to see the sights and do the activities, not stare at the room. Don't get me wrong, I always try to find some colonial gem or historical hotel with tons of charm, (and from time to time I'll splurge on something high-end) but the bottom line is that I'm only there to sleep and shower and I prefer to spend my money on activities, fine dining and nightlife. Most of my reviews will reflect that and I look at the hotels as a place to sleep and store my stuff.
